Insieme, April 2026

Here we are again, friends, full of wonderful things to share with you!

We will begin this issue of “Insieme” by presenting the testimony of Mohammad Abdullah, a widowed father taking care of three children who attend one of the Child Care Centers in the slums of Hyderabad. His words express, better than any number or statistic, the meaning of the Kalisi We Learn project, carried out thanks to the funds from the “Otto per Mille” of the Waldensian Church. A project that we will have the opportunity to explore in more depth in this issue, focused on education, childcare, and support for families.

It is time to celebrate our 35 years of activity!
In 2026 CARE TO ACTION celebrates this important milestone, and it is the perfect moment to reflect in a joint editorial written by the General Director Antonio Benci and the President Elisabetta Zegna. From the Bay of Bengal to the Venetian Lagoon, this is a story made of relationships, encounters, and shared responsibility, which over the years has involved thousands of supporters in Italy and tens of thousands of children and families in India. A work that deserves proper recognition.

Another interview you should not miss is the one with Romina Power, who has been CARE TO ACTION’s Global Ambassador for years. During her visit to India, she had the opportunity to meet in person the women and communities supported by our projects. Not only that! She embraced three of the children she supports through sponsorship, a moment she also recalls in her latest book “Pensieri profondamente semplici.” Romina will also tell us how her special bond with India, a country she calls “home,” was born.

Our Ambassador will also appear as the testimonial for our 5×1000 campaign. We would like to remind you once again: it is a simple and free gesture for those who make it, but it represents a real opportunity for change for those who truly need it.

In this issue of “Insieme” we will also present a new perspective, that of community-based support, which we will explore further through an interview with Pamela, our head of sponsorship programs for 17 years. Community support does not replace individual sponsorship, characterized by a one-to-one relationship, but complements it with a more community-oriented approach—a “person-to-community” relationship, such as supporting a class, a school, or a team of teachers. This type of support allows us to strengthen the educational community, value teachers’ work, and promote a more inclusive and stimulating school environment.

I would like to close this editorial by sharing four updates with you. The first is our transition from ONLUS to ETS (Third Sector Organization), a mandatory administrative adjustment that does not change in any way our values, activities, or daily commitment to children, women, and vulnerable communities. The label changes, but NOT the substance.

The second is that CARE TO ACTION will also take part in the Milan Marathon on April 12, as a moment of celebration, sport, and solidarity to raise funds for over 1,300 children in the slums of Vijayawada, providing them with after-school programs, creative workshops, nutritious meals, and awareness programs on rights.

Another update concerns our traditional Solidarity Market, the Women afFair, which will take place from May 14 to 16 in Milan in a new exclusive location. This year you will find us at the Galtrucco Textile Hall, Via San Gregorio 29. Finally, I warmly invite you to subscribe, if you have not already done so, to our new official WhatsApp channel. Only in this way will you be able to receive real-time updates on projects, initiatives, and events.
