We are an Italian non-governative organization that has been operating in India since 1991 to support childhood, women and vulnerable and marginalized communities. To ensure dignity and rights, everyone must be granted the tools that allow the awareness to realize personal aspirations, leading to individual and community well-being. In this perspective, we work side by side with the weaker, ensuring children and young adults are given access to quality education and the chance to continue their studies up to university, supporting women in their path to indipendence and self-determination and working with communities for a socially sustainable economic development.
CARE & SHARE Italia is born
The association is recognized as NGO
New programs with new territorial partners
We become CARE TO ACTION
CARE TO ACTION is founded in 1991 from the encounter with “the poorest among the poor”, also known as the Indian untouchables. Since then we have shared the dream to give the opportunity for growth and change to those who live on the margins. Why we started our work in India:
CARE TO ACTION is founded in 1991 in Venice, with the name Care&Share, by the work of a group of friends that, bewildered by the situation they were living, decide to donate a school to the children of Manginapudi, a fishermen village in the Bay of Bengal. Thanks to their dream, 1997 sees the inauguration of the Tharangani school. In the meantime, to give children a tangible support, more and more people start working to set long-distance adoptions in motion; in 2020 the number of children supported at distance is well over 2000. The same year sees the establishment of the non-profit organization that is recognized in 2007 as Non-Governative Organization.
Care&Share Charitable Trust is the Indian partner for this project, with whom, as from 2015, the organization commits to assist orphans, and disadvantaged and abbandoned children, also through the building of two villages (shelters). In 2016 the alliance with Care&Share Charitable Trust is interrupted and new programs are initiated by changing and increasing territorial partners, develping projects that target not only the well-being of the single individual, but the one of whole marginalized communities as well. Through the work with authorities and community leaders and the joint action with other actors of collaboration for the development of India, the association expands the range of action of its activities operating in new areas in the southern part of the Country, developing projects to support education, women empowerment and improvement of slums, rural and tribal areas. In 2023, to attest the organization’s evolution towards a new approach and inclusion of new beneficiaries, Care&Share becomes CARE TO ACTION.
We believe in a world where everyone has the same dignity and rights, where everyone can develop his/her own potential and achieve his/her aspirations, contributing to the well-being and growth of the community he/she lives in.
We want to live in a world without inequalities, that’s why we work with the poorest part of India by providing children, women and whole marginalized communities with a chance of redemption, through actions that ensure education, emancipation, indipendence and development thanks to sustainable and participated programs.
Each project we manage considers the following concepts as solid points: Cooperation, Sustainability, Transparency. They allow us to follow the mission of our organization and generate tangible growth and change actions.
To ensure nutrition, health, education and safety.
For a synergistic and systematic development of the association and its projects.
To translate our principles and our philosophy of action into shared rules.
Our activities are concentrated in South-Eastern India, where inequalities, poverty, frailty and contradictions are particularly strong. We especially operate in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, two of the most populated Indian states, where the vast majority of people lives in rural and marginalized areas, made of small villages or run-down slums, in perilous hygienic conditions.
VIJAYAWADA

HYDERABAD
With 12 milion inhabitants, it is the capital of Telangana. Here, a net of local partners promotes social inclusion and access to education in some slums of untouchables, mostly operating in waste recovery and recycling activities.
