WITH THE LAST
The Edu-Care project encompasses all educational and care facilities that CARE TO ACTION directly supports and manages. All supported children, most of whom are 'untouchables', live in the slums, in conditions of extreme hardship. Children with a family situation at risk are included in the long-distance sponsorship programme; in the most serious cases, where the health and safety of the children and young people are at risk, they are placed in shelters.

WHAT DO WE DO?
Accessible and equipped school facilities are guaranteed.
Nutritious meals are provided.
Support courses are organised to provide an adequate education.
Awareness-raising seminars for parents against school drop-outs and child labour are organised.
Regular health camps are organised to monitor the health status of the children.
Summer camps and other out-of-school activities are organised so that children can spend their days in protected places.

HOW TO SUPPORT EDU-CARE
By supporting Edu-Care you offer children in the slums protected places where they can grow and learn. Schools and foster homes are places where children can feel welcome, where they can study and play, where they can become aware of their rights and build the foundations for their future.

SUPPORTING THE MORE VULNERABLE
WHO WILL YOU SUPPORT?
The children of the Edu-Care project live in slums, in precarious hygienic conditions, often in shacks made of sheet metal and other salvaged materials. With very high illiteracy rates and a life expectancy of 10 years below the average, families in the slums live by the day, mostly collecting rubbish. The children are often victims of various forms of exploitation and violence, and some of them are orphans or have been abandoned because they suffer from various forms of disability. To accommodate these people, Mangoes Homes and Prem Niketan, the second one for children with physical and intellectual disabilities, were built, which are two family homes where minors can grow up serene and protected.
