WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK

On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week, numerous activities and events were organised involving pregnant women and lactating mothers from 5 slums in Vijayawada.

We discussed with them the importance of breastfeeding for the development of the baby’s immune system and the strategic role it plays in strengthening the emotional bond between mother and child.
Through the sharing of practical advice and moments of discussion, attention was also drawn to the correct nutritional practices that women need to follow during this important and delicate moment.

The active participation of mothers, health professionals, anganwadi teachers and community coordinators was essential to the success of the campaign and to laying the foundation for continued and collaborative support in the future.

All events and activities were organised as part of the Edu-Care programme and the Future of India project, in which we work with various Italian and Indian partners, including the Commission for International Adoptions.
