Kabir Bedi

Kabir Bedi was born in Lahore, the Punjab province of British India (now Punjab, Pakistan). He grew up in an open-minded family who was engaged in the fight for the independence from the British Empire. His father, Baba Pyare Lal Singh Bedi, was a Punjabi Sikh author and a philosopher. His mother, Freda Bedi, was an English woman born in Derby, England, and is remembered for being the first Western woman to take ordination in Tibetan Buddhism.
Kabir starred in over 60 Indian movies, but he has very soon become an international star.
He was one of the few Indian actors who worked in Hollywood tv series and films (including one of the James Bond movies, with Roger Moore) and became a star in Europe.

He reached international success by starring in “Sandokan” (1976), where he played the role of a romantic Malaysian pirate, a character created by the Italian author Emilio Salgari.
Recently, Bedi starred in several Italian tv shows, such as “L’isola dei famosi” and “Un medico in famiglia”.
He is also a contributor to the “Times of India” and “Tehelka” on political and social issues affecting the Country. He often debates these topics on the Indian national television. In addition to that, he is a Brand Ambassador for the Rotary International South Asia, supporting children education programs and the Total Literacy Mission in India and Southern Asia.
Kabir Bedi was officially bestowed the title of “Cavaliere” (Knight) of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by a decree of the President of the Italian Republic, on June 2, 2010. He is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, he is manager of a film studio and currently lives near Juhu beach, in Mumbai.
He has been a Global Ambassador for Care To Action since 2018. He appreciates the organization’s Italian soul and the willing to help marginalized and abandoned children achieve the difficult path “from the streets to school”. On January 4, 2019, he inaugurated the Anganwadi center in Bagath Singh Nagar, Hyderabad.
In the spring of the same year he joined an Italian tour to promote our cause with Care To Action. He travelled from Northern to Southern Italy and also appeared on tv to talk about our activities in India.
