In the five urban slums of Vijayawada in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, children and young people look for a safe place to learn, grow, and dream of a different tomorrow every day.
The context in which they live is challenging, with child labour, life on the streets and early marriage being realities they face far too soon. However, thanks to your support, we can make a difference here: providing a safe space for listening, care and education.
Currently, we support 1,330 children through after-school activities, creative workshops, nutritious meals and courses that teach them about their rights and how to defend them.
This Christmas, with the ‘Crescere Insieme’ (Growing Together) campaign, we aim to reinforce the activities in these eight schools and guarantee the continuity of the initiatives that are already making a difference.
Our goal is simple yet profound: a child who stays in school is a child who looks to the future.

In the eight schools where we are present, learning goes beyond books: children learn to breathe, listen to themselves, move, and understand their rights. Activities such as yoga, civic education and movement and awareness courses help children and young people regain confidence, serenity and motivation, even in challenging circumstances.

Many children in slums have an education marked by obstacles and discontinuity. For this reason, we support them every day with a team of educators who are experts in mathematics, English and science. These teachers help to fill any gaps in learning, strengthen skills and nurture self-confidence.
